Abstract
⺠Pure/blended solvents for lipase catalyzed sugar ester synthesis were studied. ⺠Blended solvents gave higher yield and rates due to better reactants solvation. ⺠Michaelis Menten kinetics was followed and esterification reaction was endothermic. ⺠Solvent polarity did not affect enzyme affinity towards limiting reactant. ⺠Gibbs energy change more favorable to product in blended solvent.
