Abstract
► Bioaugmentation of a rotating biological contactor with a specialized strain achieved. ► Biodegradation of 50 mg L−1 of 2-fluorophenol was reached after bioaugmentation. ► The bioaugmented strain was recovered from the biofilm after ca. 6 months operation. ► Bioaugmentation is often needed for the degradation of highly recalcitrant compounds. ► Biodegradation of 2-FP was completely recovered after 1 month of substrate absence.
