Abstract
► A lignocellulolytic microbial consortium, designated WCS-6, was established by successive subcultivation. ► Several molecular techniques were employed to reveal the community structure and diversity of WCS-6 in detail. ► All cellulosic materials were degraded efficiently during a 72 h incubation period under the experimental conditions.
