Abstract
⺠The AF/BAF system successfully removed organic matter and nitrogen. ⺠The kinetics using steady-state COD and biomass mass balance showed that the AF was overestimated caused by some assumptions. ⺠The recirculation ratio in the AF/BAF system was an important operation parameter to remove organic matter and nitrogen. ⺠There sloughing off of biomass in the AF existed and this was predominately determined by recirculation ratio.
