The use of a white rot fungi (Pleurotus ostreatus) immobilized on Amberlite XAD-4 as a new biosorbent in trace metal determination

► The present work proposes the use of Pleurotus ostreatus immobilized on Amberlite XAD-4 in trace metal determination. ► The proposed procedure provides a simple, sensitive, precise and accurate technique. ► The recoveries of analytes studied were nearly quantitative (95 %). ► The analytes could be preconcentrated directly by using the proposed method without using any chelating or complexing agent. ► The method is relatively rapid as compared with previously reported solid phase extraction procedures.
