Abstract
► The gas yield increased by more than 80% with temperature from 600 to 1000 °C. ► The CO and CH4 content increased with temperature, while the CO2 content decreased. ► Hydroxyl, aliphatic CH, CO, olefinic CC and ether groups were lost above 800 °C. ► The shrinkage of carbon skeleton increased by more than 23% from 600 to 1000 °C. ► The maximum porosity of agricultural biomass chars appeared at 900 °C.
