Abstract
Gas distribution in packed-bed columns with Raschig Super-Ring packing is studied. The experimental device is a column 0.47 m in diameter. The experiments are carried out with six types of metal packing-RSRM Nos. 0.5, 0.7, 1, 1.5, 2 and 3. Plastic rings RSRP Nos. 0.6 and 2 are also studied. For all packings, the non-uniformity of velocity profiles at various packing heights is studied. The maldistribution factor is calculated from velocity distribution measured along two perpendicular diameters, and also for packing height 0.8 m, in 112 points over the entire column cross-section. The uniformity limit and penetration depths for the investigated packings of different size are found. The particular qualities of this type of packing are discussed.
