Abstract
In this work, an attempt to accelerate the coatings degradation by imposing a high temperature and thermal cycles were made in order to decrease the test-time duration. The influence of the applied cathodic potential was also investigated. The coating degradation was evaluated by EIS, considering the defect-free zone of coatings. It was shown that the coating degradation is faster in the presence of a defect and for high temperature (45 °C). Moreover, thermal cycles allow to greatly accelerate the degradation of defect-free coatings and then to compare the compatibility of both coatings with cathodic protection.
