Abstract
The electrical tree propagation is simulated in this paper using Cellular Automata. The polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) sample has given dimensions and inside this volume a small spherical conducting particle is considered. Point-plane electrode arrangement is used and a DC voltage is applied. The electric strength is calculated over the insulating volume and the electrical tree propagation is shown as the result of the electrical field and the inhomogeneity factor that incorporates the dielectric constant fluctuations of the insulating material.
