Abstract
Fine droplets of aqueous dye solution, which were produced electrostatically, were introduced into a pulsed streamer corona discharge region for decoloration of dyes. The reactor has two parts, electrostatic atomization part and reaction part. In electrostatic atomization part, when the positive dc voltage was applied to the nozzle, a large number of fine droplets were produced, and their spray angle was wider than the case of negative voltage. Decoloration efficiency was increased with increasing applied pulse voltage. Chicago sky blue was effectively decolorized in the reaction part due to active species that were generated by a pulsed streamer corona discharge in gas phase. A combination of the above two processes was effective to decolorize dye in water.
