Abstract
Displacement sensors of the toroidal transformer type with cores of amorphous ribbons from different alloys, namely Fe77.5Si7.5B15, Fe73.5Cu1Nb3Si13.5B9, and Co68.25Fe4.5Si12.25B15, have been manufactured and tested. The distance between the sensor and the proximity target is established by measuring the level of a medium-frequency signal transmitted by the transformer according to the distance between the transformer and a permanent micro-magnet target. We suggest some applications for distance measurement and also for the precise position identification. The outlined method ensures high levels of noise immunity.
