Abstract
In Pante et al. (2012), we improved the statistical models for inferring hominin and carnivore feeding behavior from fossil bone assemblages and presented a refined interpretation of the FLK 22 Zinjanthropus level faunal assemblage. Domínguez-Rodrigo et al. (2014) have recently questioned our method and interpretation. Here we argue their critique is unfounded, and that our revised feeding trace models and interpretations of the FLK 22 assemblage remain valid.
