Abstract
The equivalent circuit model of a capacitive type level sensor has been discussed in this paper. The effect of double layer in a polarizable liquid medium has been taken into account in the proposed model. It has been shown that the parameters of the equivalent circuit can be estimated through a combination of theoretical and experimental approaches. Finite element analysis (FEA) has been used to estimate the resistance and capacitance due to the polarizable medium. The performance of a novel capacitance sensor with the liquid medium surrounding the probe has been investigated using the proposed method.
