Abstract
The mechanical response of an elastoplastic billet in equal channel angular extrusion is simulated by using finite element method. The plastic deformation of the billet is found to be a function of the process parameters, including the bent angle and channel width. Morphological instability of the extruded billet is observed if the width of the outlet channel is larger than the entrance one. The simulation of multi-bent extrusion is highlighted, which shows the tremendous increase of plastic deformation.
