Abstract
This paper deals with a method for determining the theoretical flow rate of balanced vane pumps. At first, guidelines for the design of the inner contour of the cam ring are proposed. Then, beginning from such a design, the mathematical relationship between cam radius and vane lift is determined. This relationship is necessary to calculate the volumes derivatives of all the pumping chambers, responsible for the flow rate generation. The developed theory is finally illustrated by a numerical example.
