Abstract
⺠Curve fitting is the most reliable and robust approach for the contact stiffness estimation. ⺠The proposed procedure is not only valid for a variety of materials, but also applicable to imperfect indenters. ⺠The estimated tip area function by proposed procedure is dependent on materials to be indented. ⺠The difference between the estimated and the ideal tip area functions corresponds tip wear of indenters.
