Studies on the oxygen barrier and mechanical properties of low density polyethylene/organoclay nanocomposite films in the presence of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer as a new type of compatibilizer

► Effect of EVA copolymer as a new type of compatibilizer on the mechanical-barrier properties of LDPE/clay nanocomposite films was examined. ► These properties of the nanocomposite films were improved remarkably by the presence of the EVA compatibilizer. ► Permeation and modulus data was correlated with existing models using a new method called linearization method. ► Experimental aspect ratio of clay was found by a new theoretical method instead of TEM.
