► Assessment of slurry erosive wear behavior of novel Al6061-Si3N4 cast composites. ► Si3N4 has drastically improved the slurry erosive wear resistance of the studied composites. ► Formation of silica and alumina mainly responsible for superior slurry erosive wear resistance.
