Abstract
► Significant effect of γ second phase on cavity formation in AZ31 alloy. ► The serious cavitation at 450 °C due to the partial melting of γ eutectic phase. ► Reduction in cavity area fraction above melting point of γ precipitates. ► Change in cavity growth mechanism with increasing temperature to 475 °C. ► Considerable effect of cavitation on mechanical properties of deformed specimens.
