Abstract
A series of new blue-emitting Ca2(1 − x)B2P2O10:2xEu2+ (x = 0.005, 0.010, 0.015, 0.020, 0.025, 0.030 mol%) phosphors were synthesized by the solid state reaction method. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were utilized to characterize the prepared samples. The luminescence properties of the phosphor were studied by excitation and emission spectra. The optimal concentration of Eu2+ ions in Ca2B2P2O10 was determined to be x = 0.010 mol%, and the concentration quenching mechanism was studied in detail. These results suggest that Ca2B2P2O10:Eu2+ is a potential blue phosphor for application in WLEDs.
