Abstract
► Cerium oxide nanorods (CeO2 NRs) were synthesized without templates through a low cost and simple non-isothermal precipitation method. ► We have used electrochemical impedance spectroscopy with suitable model circuit and its parameters to characterize the CeO2 NRs/ITO and GOx/CeO2 NRs/ITO electrodes. ► The glucose biosensor based on CeO2 NRs and GOx exhibits a linear range from 2 to 26 mM, reproducible sensitivity, response time of 1-2 s and detection limit of 100 μM. ► We demonstrate the mediator-less application of CeO2 NRs for glucose sensing.
