Abstract
Pump prime and volume replacement could be realised with crystalloids or synthetic or natural colloids. The ideal volume replacement strategy for cardiac surgery still remains unknown. However, crystalloids are less effective and their use is associated with an increase in extravasculaire lung water. No sufficient data support the use of albumin over other available fluids.
