Abstract
The Hospital complex Pitié-Salpêtrière counts twenty-eight laboratories, which represents a very significant equipments park. That implies a rigorous management of apparatuses and organisation. It is with an aim of better knowing the activity of the laboratories that the biomedical service proposed a study concerning the cartography of the examinations. In spite of the difficulties related to the diversity of the computerized systems of laboratories management, and thanks to the cooperation of the various biologists, we could draw up a cartography of the automated analyses which is presented in the form of tables indicating the laboratory concerned, the name of the various parameters carried out, the automats on which they are distributed and, for each parameter, the number of examinations carried out over the year 2002. Thus, we could release from this cartography three precise study axes, namely the study of the realizable economies within the regrouping of the Department of Clinical Chemistry, currently made up of two different laboratories, the study of the evolution of the analyzes carried out at the emergency biology laboratory between 2001 and 2003, and finally the study of the achievable activity regroupings in the precise case of the immunoassays. It appeared that some automats could be saved, with the consequences that it implies in term of maintenance, reagents and consumable costs.
