Abstract
Certain mismatches between the Lake Baikal profiles of biological indicators and the marine oxygen isotope records, as well as the slight temporal offsets between different Lake Baikal biological marker signals suggest that the regional component of climatic and/or lacustrine environmental changes also have played a role in determining the composition of the Lake Baikal Plio-Pleistocene phytoplankton assemblage.
