Abstract
⺠Broad social motives reflect the importance individuals place on social activities. ⺠Individuals high in broad social motives show larger increases in drinking in emerging adulthood. ⺠Individuals high in social motives report more positive expectancies and perceived peer drinking. ⺠Alcohol expectancies and perceived peer use mediate the influence of broad social motives.
