Abstract
⺠Conformity motives were associated with more protective behavioral strategies (PBS). ⺠Enhancement and social motives predicted less frequent PBS use. ⺠More PBS was associated with consuming less alcohol and having fewer problems. ⺠PBS led to fewer problems, especially with greater coping and conformity motives.
