Abstract
⺠Parental alcohol use only had direct effects on alcohol use by adolescents. ⺠Attitudes of mothers only had indirect effects on adolescents' alcohol use. ⺠Peer pressure to drink alcohol can be difficult to resist. ⺠All peer-related variables were associated with positive alcohol expectations. ⺠Negative alcohol expectations prevent drinking behavior in adolescents.
