Abstract
► State and trait variables were tested as predictors of post-event processing. ► Negative cognitions and situational anxiety were the most powerful predictors. ► These state variables were consistent predictors in two tasks (interaction, speech). ► Trait social anxiety and dysfunctional self-consciousness were less powerful predictors. ► If dysfunctional cognitions are successfully treated, PEP may also improve.
