Abstract
⺠State and trait variables were tested as predictors of post-event processing. ⺠Negative cognitions and situational anxiety were the most powerful predictors. ⺠These state variables were consistent predictors in two tasks (interaction, speech). ⺠Trait social anxiety and dysfunctional self-consciousness were less powerful predictors. ⺠If dysfunctional cognitions are successfully treated, PEP may also improve.
