Abstract
⺠We review the association between life events and substance use treatment outcomes. ⺠Findings suggest inverse, direct, and nonsignificant associations. ⺠Inconsistent results may be due to how life events and outcomes were operationalized. ⺠Theory-driven studies may elucidate the life events-treatment outcome relationship.
