Abstract
⺠Kindling hypothesis: stress is differentially important across mood disorder course. ⺠Mixed support for kindling in bipolar disorder; existing studies have limitations. ⺠Kindling may apply to newer biopsychosocial models. ⺠Additional prospective longitudinal, interview-based research is needed.
