Abstract
▶ Negative beliefs about worry prospectively predict the residual change in anxiety. ▶ Negative beliefs about worry prospectively predict the residual change in depression. ▶ Cognitive confidence interacts with daily hassles to predict the residual change in anxiety. ▶ The results support a possible causal role of metacognition.
