- Memory disorganization was related to posttraumatic stress symptoms at six weeks in new mothers.
- Earlier memory disorganization with 72Â h of the birth was not related to symptoms.
- Memory disorganization was associated with lack of self-referent processing and pain.
- The emotional experience of the birth may influence subsequent memory organization.
