Abstract
ⶠFemales report more PTSD symptoms than males after motor vehicle accidents. ⶠIn hospital, females report higher initial PTSS and dissociation than males. ⶠNo gender differences found in cortisol, heart rate or injury severity. ⶠSubjective, not objective responses mediates gender differences in PTSS.
