Abstract
► We investigated whether perceptual processing and priming predict intrusive memories. ► Neutral objects were more readily identified if previously seen in a traumatic rather than neutral context. ► Enhanced perceptual priming predicted intrusive memories 2 weeks later. ► Perceptual processing during the stories also predicted intrusive memories. ► The results support the role of perceptual triggers of unwanted trauma memories.
