Abstract
► Body dysmorphic disorder patients engage in metacognitive processing related to appearance. ► Metacognition may be one way in which the disorder is maintained. ► We apply metacognitive therapy (MCT) to BDD patients. ► We examine changes in thought-fusion and BDD symptoms. ► MCT indeed reduces symptoms of BDD and thought-fusion which is maintained up to 6-months follow-up.
