Abstract
⺠Best possible self (BPS)imagery led to larger increases in optimism as compared to daily activities (DA) imagery, after one session and over a two week period. ⺠Intervention effects on optimism remained after controlling for effects on positive mood. ⺠The intervention effect was not moderated by baseline dispositional optimism or ma priori motivation. ⺠BPS effects (primarily targeting future expectancies) generalized to attribution style.
