Abstract
ⶠ30% of the mothers of very preterm infants had non-balanced attachment representations. ⶠNo differences were found in maternal attachment representations between mothers that received IBAIP intervention and control group mothers. ⶠThe first negative experiences of the mothers in the hospital and in the home situation may be a risk factor for a positive and healthy relationship. ⶠEarly support for mothers of very preterm born infants to develop a healthy mother-infant relationship is recommended especially for mothers who report negative first experiences.
