Abstract
⺠The Stroop effect was larger when responses were adjacent rather than separated. ⺠This result was obtained only in the initial 30 trials. ⺠Over more trials, the Stroop effect was of similar size for both separations. ⺠Use of sticks showed that key distance rather than hand distance was crucial.
