Abstract
⺠We examined the effects of reading stories while monitoring for vibrations. ⺠Monitoring for vibrations is negatively affected by reading. ⺠Processing text-speak has greater cognitive cost compared to correctly spelled. ⺠Individuals more willing to use text-speak have greater dual-task performance.
