Abstract
⺠We investigate the encoding of vertical, horizontal and diagonal configurations. ⺠Recall of vertical symmetry is unaffected by secondary tasks. ⺠Horizontal and diagonal symmetry is disrupted by visuospatial and executive tasks. ⺠Low-span participants do not show an advantage of horizontal and diagonal symmetry. ⺠Horizontal and diagonal symmetry require active binding processes.
