Goal-neglect links Stroop interference with working memory capacity

Abstract
► Relationship between working memory capacity and Stroop interference was examined. ► Stroop effects correlated with working memory only when goal neglect was likely. ► Those with high capacity may recover more efficiently from lapses in attention.
