Abstract
⺠Participants matched sentences to pictures with an internal or external perspective. ⺠If they were always addressees, they preferred external for I and internal for you. ⺠If they alternated between speaking and listening, they reversed these preferences. ⺠We argue that addressees seek independence of perspective from the speaker.
