Abstract
⺠First study to investigate the influence of gaze cues on memory encoding. ⺠Gaze cues influence memory only when items are presented briefly. ⺠Gaze cues influence both items encoded both intentionally and incidentally. ⺠The influence of gaze cues is most pronounced for gazed-away-from items. ⺠Results suggest a processing dissociation as a function of presentation duration.
