Abstract
► First study to investigate the influence of gaze cues on memory encoding. ► Gaze cues influence memory only when items are presented briefly. ► Gaze cues influence both items encoded both intentionally and incidentally. ► The influence of gaze cues is most pronounced for gazed-away-from items. ► Results suggest a processing dissociation as a function of presentation duration.
