Abstract
► Hypotensives compared to normotensives did not show any differences in sleep quality. ► Nevertheless, they exhibited lower nighttime blood pressure and reduced myocardial contractility. ► Furthermore, they showed a low sympathovagal balance across the whole night. ► Hypotensives failed to show correlations between diurnal and nocturnal blood pressure values. ► Impairment in autonomic regulation underlying the essential hypotension condition.
