Abstract
► We study auditory and audiovisual speech perception with active ERP oddball tasks. ► Results discuss pre-conscious and attention-related processes. ► The phonetic distance between syllables modulates the P3 amplitude. ► McGurk stimuli elicit a neural response to the integration difficulty. ► The brain responses reflect the advantage of audiovisual over auditory information.
