Abstract
⺠Individuals imitated the absolute pitch information in melodies more accurately than sentences. ⺠The absolute pitch melodic advantage persisted across multiple syllable timing manipulations. ⺠Phonetic information improved imitation of absolute and relative pitch for both speech and song. ⺠The phonetic advantage suggests that pitch processors are not encapsulated to speech information. ⺠Imitation accuracy for song and speech are positively correlated.
