Abstract
► Presents a new theoretical perspective on the eyewitness misinformation effect. ► This memory conversion approach implies that the misinformation effect is reversible. ► In three studies postevent misinformation impaired memory performance in an initial test. ► After postwarning these misinformation effects disappeared, even after 5 weeks. ► Reversibility results from changing people's representation of the memory task.
