Abstract
⺠We show the distinctive features of chimpanzees and humans with respect to self-monitoring. ⺠Chimpanzees rely primarily on conceptual goal representations rather than on motor kinematics. ⺠Humans integrate both dimensions of information for purposes of self-monitoring. ⺠Humans may have evolved a more flexible way to monitor implicit motor information.
