Abstract
⺠Framing statistical statements negatively increases subjective veracity. ⺠Important to distinguishing between the roles of knowledge vs. bias. ⺠A multinomial model for truth judgments is developed and validated (three experiments). ⺠Model-based analyses (three experiments) show that the framing effect is a response bias.
