Abstract
⺠We examine people's judgments about how agents come to own objects. ⺠We show these findings depend on agents' intent and control in making objects available. ⺠These findings suggest ownership judgments depend on attributions of responsibility. ⺠These findings suggest that ownership judgments are more constrained by psychology than by social conventions.
